TOC ERRORa When I press play I get "TOC ERRORa" and then the unit shuts down. It seems to be the disk as I get the same error on a second unit, but what I don't understand is what happened to the disk. This happened right after I had played (successfully) the entire disk. Didn't remove it from the unit or anything. The error just started cropping up. I really need this file too.

When you FINISH recording, the Minidisc recorder Writes the TOC (Table of Contents) - so you see it flashing TOC or Update when you finish recording - you need to Leave POWER ON and have the unit on for about 30 seconds for it to finish this. IF you don't, the unit doesn't know where to find the files since there is no TOC. Try a Sony home unit - you might get one more shot at it working with that.

The TOC errors were common with Sharp Minidisc recorders. Perfect discs were ruined. Check out minidisc.org. There are lots of technical postings on this error and how to recover the TOC.
