test the ac to dc adaptor and the output are correct on 8.8V DC But the unit does not switch on at all. I need a circuit diagram to test the power distrbution on the pc board , there are a 6.3 A survice mount fuse that are also serviceable but I need a diagram to see where the different regulators are on the circuit

Hello this is a problem for a tech to look at..your other bet is to look on ebay.and buy a second hand non working ps2 that turns on..you will have to make sure you get the same model as yours as some power supplies are different.

I buy My playstation 3 in u.s the power supply is 110v 1.5A. In my country the voltage is 220. Can i use 220v 150watts transformer

The playstation 3 is dual voltage, meaning that as long as you have the right cable (plug for the wall socket) it will run 100 - 240v.
I believe the only exception to the universal power supply is the PAL 60GB PS3 (CECHC01) model. That power supply APS-227 is not compatible with voltages under 220V.

Unit freezes in play, red ring of death, will not eject disk

Hi,

The PS3 has a special Recovery Menu, which you can access in the following way:

1. Turn off Playstation 3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION 3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION 3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION 3 System

From the above select option "Rebuild Database". After PS3 has executed this DB rebuilding operation, the disc games will be visible again in the menu.

Thank you !!

My playstation 3 is completely dead no lights - could it be a new power cord is needed? steve peterson [email protected]

Try a different power cord first. If that doesn't work then your power supply has blown a fuse. Power supplies are version sensitive, so make sure you get the right one if you plan on fixing it yourself.

Power supply may be junk, can you test it on a friends and see if its the power supply? If the power supply is good the system is dead, but need to test the power supply first.

US playstation 3 loss of power

sounds like you got a system with a defective power supply you could either send it back and have them replace it or i think you can take game systems to geek squad now, that would save you the wait but you would probably have to pay a small fee
