Laid tv face down and then set it up and the tv will not turn on.
Laid tv face down and then set it up and the tv would not come on. what could be the problem? The timer/standby light blinks 6 times and keeps repeating over and over.
Re: laid tv face down and then set it up and the tv will...
If you bought it new and laid it down you have to wait at least 10 min before plugging it in or doing anything with it kinda like the fridg thing
unplug it and see if the store will replace it

One of two general answers----look to see if screws all around the back of the set--if so set must be safely laid face down(no pressure on screens) and base removed first then the screws. Also some sets in addition have tabs around the back cover that snap the back on---use a thin metal putty knife and probe to snap them loose----left to right etc.
most of the time the set has to be laid face down "safely" so no weight or stress is on the actual front screen---the base then should be safely attached and the 4 or more specific bolts attached.
It can be done with 3 people--2 holding it up and number 3 attaching the base........
very carefully----set must be laid face down on padded surface that fully supports the screen with no pressure on it---one wrong move and set is destroyed.
exert no downward pressure with set in this position---look for the four or more bolts that go thru the back and secure the stand unit noting if different lengths and oh make sure you put the bolts somewhere where you do not loose them.
Most have to be correctly laid face down on a padded surface to remove the cover--any downward force or pressure on the front screen and set can be instantly destroyed.
You want it so when face down entire frame around the screen is supported with NO weight on the actual glass of the screen.
In this position it is usually just removal of screws--a base if mounted also usually has to come off the set to get the back off.
What is issue in set that makes you want to open it, what are you wanting to do?
Base on most sets is removed with set laid face down----be very careful as the screen is fragile on most flat screens---any downward pressure can destroy the screen.
The set has to be laid face down and carefully supported so no weight is on the screen--any firm downward pressure can damage or destroy the screen unit (Panel).
If the set is on a removable base it will have in that position to be removed (bolts) as there usually are some screws for the rear cover hidden by it.
This has to be done very carefully. Set has to be laid face down on a padded surface that supports the entire frame around the front screen.
One wrong move or downwards pressure in this position and the display will be destroyed or damaged beyond repair.
On a 50 inch it is a two person job----with set safely down--remove base if there---then the 40 plus screws--noting different thread types and lengths.
This requires some care---set will have to be laid face down--the screen unit or display panel is EXTREMELY fragile---the set must be laid down so the entire frame around the screen is supported and no pressure is exerted on the actual screen! One wrong move or downward pressure can damage/destroy the screen.
The base is attached with several bolts that come with the set--exact length and thread type is critical. They may all be same or different lengths. Line them all up and tighten with hand--snug them down evenly with a tool---NO downward pressure on screen when doing this.
If have lost or do not have the bolts contact the maker who will tell you size, thread type and number of bolts.
Someone needs to open it up (I have some cautions for you here) and look to see if puffed up or damaged caps in the power supply of the set--see attached photo typical of this.
l caution all here who open these sets--extreme care must be used as set has to be laid face down--any mistake or downward pressure can destroy the screen unit which is fatal.
Let me know if questions.
On the power supply board inside the set look for caps like these that are puffed up--should be perfectly flat on top.
