Everytime I change the contact details for other people on Yahoo Messenger, I cannot change the details and also see the messege of "The last Address Book operation did not succeed due to a server error. (Error Code: -100)"
@1 stop using Yahoo Messenger. Stop using Yahoo. Get a gmail account and start using google.

I have since found out that you have to actually go into your contacts under yahoo mail and delete them from that list, then it deletes them from your messenger. Found this solution on another website. Hope this helps anyone else who is having that problem.

If you are trying to delete a contact, delete them from your email address book first. This error usually comes up when you try to delete a contact from messenger first.

Seems Error Code 40402 pops up when trying to remove them while in your Yahoo Instant Messenger list first.
Glitches and Updates!!! Here's a work around though.
You will need to go to your Yahoo Email Account and delete the contact's name there first.
1. Click Contacts from your Email page to open your list of Contacts.
2. Go to the one you wish to remove and check the box next to it.
3. Go to the top of the list and click the Delete button.
Go to Yahoo Instant Messenger, right click the name and select Delete from the drop down menu.
