Solution: Cleaned the fan motor mechanism

All the post were helpful and I was able to fix my problem so I thought I'd share.....

Once I got the error I tried what the users manual suggested(check water supply/unplug/plug back in) and nothing fixed it. When I opened up the machine I went straight for the fan motor and that was it. The fan is a circular type and it was caked on with lint. Long story short it was not turning due to all the lint build up. I cleaned it up and made sure that it was spinning freely. I put it all back together and it seems to be working fine..... I hope this helped and I wanted to say thanks to the other poster's.

Several reports in Australia of brand new LG Washer/Dryer combo (model number WD14700RD) getting dHE error's with very 1st dry cycle.
I bought a LG WD14700RD last week, and yup, washed fine.

Dryer cycle results in dHE error.
Everytime.
Cycle stops & you just have to power off the machine.

Service man found several possible causes.
He unscrewed the top of the machine off & said dHE errors are related to the dryer components. He started a dryer cycle & watched & lisened to machine.
He observed the dryer fan was not starting up.
He unplugged the power cable to the dryer & replugged.
The fan now started up, but only with cold air.
He then looked towards the front of the machine & noticed several cables had come loose from their sockets, one he identified was the heater element cable.
He plugged that back in & another unknown cable was also loose. He plugged that back in.
It worked.
dHE error gone & dryer fan started & pumped out hot air.

It seems at least a few of these machines during transit (from South Korea?) fail due to cables coming loose from their sockets.
dHE errors result if fan cable & fan heating element cable come loose.
My thanks to WAM electrical repairs in Box Hill (Melbourne) for helpfull advice & successfull repair.
For people looking at buying this machine, it washes & now dries perfectly well & I am happy with the machine.
But beware that this problem is out there (there are several other reports I read) and it have this problem, which is easily fixed but does require a service call out, under warranty of course.

I hope this helps, I had the DHE indicator no longer than 5 seconds after selecting the dry only cycle and the machine would stop.

My Fix: used a drill w/ phillips head drill bit and removed the entire top of the machine (this will expose all the components). Then I took apart the cover to the heating element and found all types of old lint deposits. I also took apart the fan cover and found lots there as well and cleaned it out. Then I noticed the plastic container/pathway that the fan is supposed to push the hot air through congested and cleaned it as best as I could as well. Afterwards, I put it all back together and that seemed to have fixed the problem.

I hope this helps, my suspect that, as a safety mechanism, the pathway and etc.. was cluttered so the heat was backing back up and there must be some temperature gauge or some type of way to indicate this is happenging.

Note: I am not a fix it guy, I never took anything on a washer or dryer, my warranty was expired so I figured, if I call a repair guy, it might as well be worth it :)

Code dhe. Take 2 screws from rear of the top.slide top towards rear to take it off. Take off the metal shield Below that . You'll see a fan motor assembly take that apart plus the heater cover in front of that also take an air intake off as well below the fan motor( will need to take rear sheet metal cover 4 screws and take additional 5 screws out of that air intake that's the real problem it will be filled with lint once you take it out just rinse it out put everything back together and it should work. Don't forget to clean the motor blower wheel plus at the heater duct as well. Good luck

June 22/13 Just had the same error code. Took off top, removed the heater fan, cleaned out all the junk I could reach, reached inside the heater tunnel and rubbed the sensor clean, put it all back together again and poof!! problem solved.

Looks as if the dryer motor came unplugged. Repair man said he'd have to order a new one for $465 (parts/labor)!!!! I'd rather buy a new dryer at that point. He said not to use the dryer cycle until the part was replaced. Well..., it's working just fine and the code never returned. Interesting.

Why is cold water needed on the dry cycle? Since there is no external vent to exhaust the hot, humid air these machines use a method reminiscent of a moonshine still. A fan draws the hot humid air out of the drum into a double walled expansion chamber. The inner chamber houses the hot humid air; the outer chamber passes cold water over the inner chamber to condense the water out of the air. All water then drains out the bottom of the chamber. In theory, lint should flow out with the water. In reality, lint can plug up the chamber, fan, and coin trap, which can then set the dhe code for running too hot. Should a piece of that lint break free and lodge in the heating element, you will be presented with a lovely burnt fabric smell that will permeate your clothes and the house......

I was having the same issues with the DHE error. I have a dog and figured it was hair in the pumps, etc. I first flipped the machine over, took out the pumps, disassembled them and cleaned them out. There was some muck in there, but not enough to concern me. The 'propellers' actually pop out of a waterproof housing to be able to be rinsed - carefully. I reassembled the pumps.

Then I took the top off, opened up the dryer duct on the top, wiped off the dime sized sensor on the left hand side of the shoot, made sure all of the wires were secure (seemed like they were, but with the previous posts, just made sure). Reassembled, and have not had any problems since. It is working great!!

The machine needs water on a dry cycle to cool the drum.
