My LG is about to go in the shop for the 4th time in 2 years. First the standby would lock up.I would have to unplug the TV to reset the standby so that I could turn on the unit. After two attempts LG had repair shop "replace main assembly." Now my LG went black. Remote turns on tv to dimely lit screen. Nothing comes on. Repairman wants to replace "power board." This has been done before. My warranty expires in two years. What are lemon laws regarding tv's. I purchased from Best Buy with 4 year warranty. I'm beginning to think that I got a lemon.
My LG 42 in lcd comes on to a dimly lit screen same as above, but then nothing else. I am wondering if there could be a problem with the remote???? This is the first issue we've had with it and we have had it for two and a half years. My LG 42 in lcd comes on to a dimly lit screen same as above, but then nothing else. Tell the guys at bb to replace the tv. Not transformer, nor power board nor any parts, but the whole thing. And if they do not, get a refund and compensation for your trouble. Sometimes it pays to spend a little extra and buy in a small store. You get better post-sale service.
I belive the repair shop might be try to get more money from you
if you enscrew the back of the tv ( with the tv unplugged ) look for a flat wirestrip thats not connected
I think they either forgot to plug in that video wire or they did it to make money from you
did it work fine before the dim screen or did it come back to you like that?
you can try that but your warranty is to fix the tv not to replace it, if they decide to replace it with another then you are just going to have more problems because they will not replace it with a better one garanteed , and these tv's only last about a year if your lucky , before they need repair !

Tries to reset the tv back to the factory setting.Unplug the tv and the cable box too, replug it back about an hour later.Let the cable box reboot and upgrade it softwares.Go into the tv Menu.Go to the PICTURE setting.Go down to the reset,to reset the Tuner board, this will reset the the Tuner board, back to the factory setting. This should solved ur tv problems, not than, the Tuner board is defective, must be replaced.
Just try to reset so picture will come again, some LCD TVs have a reset button. If available and accessible, try using the reset buttons before using the steps below. Using the reset buttons can save time. 1. Unplug the LCD TV power cord from the power outlet. 2. Unplug any connected devices (DVD, Set-top boxes, etc...) 3. Press and hold the LCD TV power button for five seconds. 4. Plug the LCD TV power cord back into the power outlet and turn on the TV. 5. Open the on-screen menu to confirm that the LCD TV is responding again. 6. Turn off the LCD TV and reconnect the devices. 7. Turn on the LCD TV.
Did anyone find out the solution for this??????? I have the exact same problem with my LG 32 LCD. I only had it for a year and a half, and the green light blinks a few times and it shows no picture. Not even a red light when the tv is off. The same thing happened a couple weeks ago and by some miracle it started working again.
This is probably bad capacitors on the power supply board. My LG 42LB1DR has a known problem with this and I replaced the four bac capacitors myself and saved 5-6 hundered dollars that I was also told that it would cost to fix. I fixed for under 10 dollars and about 20 minutes. LG knows about it but they dont really want to admit it. My TV was only 26 months old when this happened. The four capacitors are made by Samxon and are 2200uf @ 10v. They are junk so even if you have the entire board replaced for say $200 its just going to happen again. They need to be replaced with a different brand.
Found that TV started switching off by itself. Would try to come on..green light blinked for 2-3 seconds, tv came on (with picture and sound) for 1 or 2 seconds and then it would turn itself off. Found that the issue is with one channel only. If you are facing this issue....try quickly changing the channel the moment it comes on. You can do it either with remote or with the TV buttons directly. also in the same logic, if this is still happening, try changing the source to another (rgb-pc, av1, av2 etc). Basically change it from whatever input it is on currently, if changing the channels does not work. My symptom was that the tv made a loud 'TIK' 'TAK' sound which is louder than normal.
